November 2014
From the Desk of Mr. Dorethy
Congratulations to Kristi Metzger on being the October Student of the Month. She is the daughter of Steve and Teresa Metzger of Ursa.
The first quarter ended on October 17, 2014. Parent/Teacher Conferences were held on October 23 and 24. The conferences took place in the High School Gym. If you did not get the opportunity to pick up your child’s grade card you may download their grades from PowerSchool. If you do not have access to a computer, then have your child stop by the High School office to pick one up. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me via email at [email protected].
Attention Seniors: the Jostens Representative will be here on November 4, 2014, at 2:30pm. Seniors will be able to order Senior Announcements and other items for graduation.
The Unit 4 Celebration of Success will be held on November 9, 2014, beginning at 7:00pm. Graduate Josh Rabe will be the guest speaker.
The high school and middle school will be hosting a Veterans’ Day presentation on November 10, 2014. The assembly will start at 10:00am I would like to invite any Veteran in the CUSD#4 district to attend this wonderful event.
The basketball seasons will be starting the end of this month. The girls will be competing at West Hancock on November 18, 2014. The boys will begin their season in the Southeastern Tournament November 24-29. Good Luck to both teams on their upcoming seasons.

November News
The first quarter is over and many parents picked up their student’s report cards at Parent-Teacher Conferences on October 23rd and 24th. I would like to personally say “thank you” to those of you that did come in and meet with the faculty and staff. I appreciate the patience and cooperation all of you had on these two days while waiting to see your child’s teachers.
As most of you are aware, we are starting the school day with 25 minutes of RTI (Response To Intervention). This time is used to help those students who are falling behind their grade level peers. Some programs we are using are MobyMax and I-Station. Study hall is at the end of the day, but only 16 minutes long this school year. This is a time where students can fill out their planner and organize their homework. Please encourage your child to use these 2 time periods wisely. Students can greatly benefit their education by remaining focused during these times.
DATES TO REMEMBER
November 2 – Set your clocks back 1 hour.
November 10 – 10:00 Veteran’s Day Assembly in HS Gym
November 11 – Veteran’s Day – No School
November 14 – Mid-Term 2nd Quarter
November 21 – 11:30 Dismissal – Teacher Inservice
November 26 – 2:00 Dismissal – Thanksgiving Break
November 27 – 28 – No School – Thanksgiving Break
