Save the Date
The Unity High School Graduation will be held in the UHS Gym on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at 2 PM.

High School Principal
Jostens will be here to distribute information to the Freshmen concerning ordering class rings on February 3, 201, at 2:30. They will be able to order class rings on February 7, 2014, at 2:30-3:05 in the high school cafeteria.
The girls’ basketball regional begins on February 10, 2014. The regional will be held here at Brown County.
Unity will be hosting the Boys Regional the week of February 24-28.
FFA week will be February 18 – 21.
I have included the attendance policy from the student handbook. Please remember to bring a note from your doctor or dentist so that those absences do not count against your student for the allowable absences.
Parents if you would like homework please check your student’s teacher’s website. Please call in before 8:15 so that teachers can get the homework ready during their prep period.
Examples of excusable reasons for school absence:
1. Personal illness, after the 4th called in personal illness/occurrence a doctors’ excuse will be required. If the student does not have a doctors’ excuse then it will be considered unexcused. Anytime a Dr. Note is brought in that illness/occurrence will not count against the four illness/occurrence.
2. Busses not operating
3.Emergency illnesses or death in immediate family
4. Family Vacation approved in advance by the principal. The student is required to get assignments from the teacher before they leave on the approved vacation. Due date of assignment will be determined by the teacher. If not pre-approved it will be considered unexcused.
5. Medical or dental appointments
6. Principal has the authority to approve absences that he/she deems appropriate.
Examples of unexcused reasons for school absence:
1. Missed school bus
2. Car broke down
3. Oversleeping
4. College day without prior approval from the principal
5. Skipping school--There are no approved skip days
6. Work, except in extreme emergencies approved by the principal
7. Other excuses that the principal deems inappropriate
8. 1 hunting day per school year will be allowed. Any subsequent hunting days will be considered an unexcused absence. Student must show tags for deer or turkey season at the office before the day the student wants to be gone.

Middle School Principal
The 7th grade boys’ basketball team is competing in their regional the last week of January. The 8th graders will begin their regional play on Saturday, February 1 at Pittsfield. 7th and 8th grade volleyball is in full swing. The 5th and 6th grade boys are playing basketball and the 6th grade girls are competing in volleyball.
Progress reports will be distributed on Monday, February 10. The student council is sponsoring two activities for the 7th and 8th grade students during the month of February. Ten 7th graders (Addison Miller, Larissa Berger, Kaylee Nichols, Alyssa Steinkamp, Morgan Kasparie, Logan Woodruff, Logan Voth, PJ Hildebrand, Kameron Kuhn, and Luke Jansen) were selected by the staff to attend Operation Snowflake on February 7. There is also a dance on the 7th. This is not a formal dance.
